چکیده

Most of the IEEE 802.16e Mobile WiMAX scheduling proposals for real-time traffic using Unsolicited Grant Service (UGS) focus on the throughput and guaranteed latency. The delay jitter and the effect of burst overhead have not yet been investigated. This paper introduces a new technique called Swapping Min-Max (SWIM) for UGS scheduling that not only meets the delay constraint with optimal throughput, but also minimizes the delay jitter and burst

A Feasible Power Saving Scheduling Approach in WiMAX 802.16e Networks

IEEE 802.16 is a novel broadband wireless access standard. Quality of service (QoS) guarantee and power saving are two important factor in IEEE 802.16 standard. Unsolicited grant service (UGS) is a constant bit rate QoS service and is defined in IEEE 802.16 standard. Power saving classes of type II (PSCs-II) is provided in IEEE 802.16 standard for repeat fixed active and sleep frames. However, ...

An Overview of Group Key Management Issues in IEEE 802.16e Networks

The computer industry has defined the IEEE 802.16 family of standards that will enable mobile devices to access a broadband network as an alternative to digital subscriber line technology. As the mobile devices join and leave a network, security measures must be taken to ensure the safety of the network against unauthorized usage by encryption and group key management. IEEE 802.16e uses Multica...

Performance enhancement and analysis for IEEE 802.16e/m sleep mode operations with unsolicited grant service/real-time variable-rate connections

The power saving class of type II (PSC II), one of the sleep mode operations in the IEEE 802.16e standard, is designed to reduce power consumption for unsolicited grant service (UGS) and real-time variablerate (RT-VR) connections. However, the configuration of fixed-length listening windows in the PSC II incurs unnecessary energy consumption or packet loss for these types of connections. In ord...

Efficiency of Resource Allocation for Enhanced Quality of Service in MobileWiMAX Networks

The mobile wireless networks have to enable full mobility for users with non degraded Quality of Service (QoS). The QoS is closely related to a mobilityof users. Resource allocation is a vital component of call-admission control that determines the amount of resource to assign to new and handoff connections for quality-of-service (QoS) satisfaction. In this paper, we present approximate analyti...

Scheduling in IEEE 802.16e Mobile WiMAX Networks: Key Issues and a Survey

Interest in broadband wireless access (BWA) has been growing due to increased user mobility and the need for data access at all times. IEEE 802.16e based WiMAX networks promise the best available quality of experience for mobile data service users. Unlike wireless LANs, WiMAX networks incorporate several quality of service (QoS) mechanisms at the Media Access Control (MAC) level for guaranteed ...
